Position Title: Accounting Staff
Department: Accounting
Reports to: Senior Staff Accountant / Accounting Manager / Financial Controller
Role Summary
This role is the operational backbone of the accounting function. The Accounting Staff is fully accountable for day-to-day bookkeeping across multiple entities and operates with minimal supervision. The position requires strong accounting fundamentals, sound judgment, and the ability to independently resolve issues while providing reliable support to senior accounting staff and management. This role exists to make the accounting department run smoothly, reduce noise for senior staff, and ensure financial data is clean, reliable, and audit-ready at all times.
This is a hands-on execution role, not a training position.
Core Responsibilities
· Maintain complete, accurate, and timely accounting records across multiple entities.
· Independently manage Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger postings.
· Prepare and review monthly account reconciliations and flag inconsistencies proactively.
· Support month-end and year-end closing processes without constant oversight.
· Ensure transactions comply with internal controls, accounting standards, and local regulations.
· Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for audits, tax filings, and management review.
· Maintain organized financial documentation and contracts.
· Support payroll processing and related reconciliations.
· Assist senior accounting staff with financial reporting, analysis, and ad-hoc requests.
· Identify process gaps, errors, or inefficiencies and propose practical solutions.
· Act as a dependable internal point of reference for accounting-related questions from operations.
What This Role Is Not
· Not a junior role
· Not a “just data entry” position
· Not a role that requires daily supervision
· Not a strategic or managerial position
Requirements
· Degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred but not mandatory if experience is strong. Practical experience outweighs formal education.
· Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on bookkeeping or accounting experience.
· Proven experience as a bookkeeper or accounting officer in a multi-entity environment.
· Solid understanding of accounting principles and how they apply in real life.
· Strong common sense and problem-solving ability, knows when to escalate and when to fix.
· High level of ownership, accountability, and attention to detail.
· Comfortable working independently and under deadlines.
· Proficient in accounting software and Excel.
· Experienced in Odoo is a plus!
· Fluent in English; Spanish and/or Dutch is a strong advantage.
· Experience in construction, real estate, or asset-heavy businesses is a plus.
