Role Overview

The Assistant Financial Manager works directly with the Financial Manager and Operations leadership team to ensure accurate accounting, timely reporting, cost control, and smooth financial workflows across clearance, delivery, and invoicing. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Reporting

• Assist with daily bookkeeping and ledger maintenance.
• Prepare monthly financial reports, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow updates, and variance analysis.
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Reconcile bank accounts, supplier statements, and client accounts.
• Monitor accounts receivable and support timely collections.

Operational Finance

• Ensure all customs clearance charges, delivery fees, and service costs are correctly recorded.
• Verify that all paperwork for customs, freight, and warehouse operations is complete and in the system on time.

Compliance & Internal Controls

• Assist with tax filings, compliance documentation, and financial audits.
• Ensure adherence to internal SOPs and financial control procedures.
• Support continuous improvement of finance-related processes.

Management Support

• Provide financial insights to management for decision-making.
• Prepare summaries and reports for internal meetings.
• Assist with implementation of new finance tools, software, and process improvements.

Requirements

• MBO degree / Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or audit (logistics industry experience is an advantage).
• Strong proficiency in Excel and accounting software (QuickBooks, Exact, or similar).
• Excellent command of English; Papiamento and/or Dutch is an advantage.
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Strong sense of responsibility and integrity.
